Fisher's
International Missions
was contacted by the Church of the Brethren to rebuild one Church and
to build a new Church in San Juan Maguana, Dominican Republic in
1993-94. Three teams went to the Dominican Republic and put a new roof
on the old Church. Work teams built the first steel trusses
that were found in the country of the Dominican Republic in 1993. In
1994, the foundation team called Pastor Fisher to notify him that the
Church was in a flood plain. Fisher's International Missions had
to raise $4,000 in two weeks to be able to finish the project. The team
was able to train a local welding crew to build trusses and they are
now providing those for the country of the Dominican Republic.
The
team placed a steel roof on the Church, lowered the windows and had a
center
ventilation in the roof. Fans were placed in the sanctuary which
created a cooling effect for the congregation. It was some of the first
innovation using convection to cool a building in the Dominican
Republic. The congregation of 200 is now enjoying the ventilation and
growing. Praise
the Lord!
