International Mission work started when a Church tried to send a group
of teenagers in 1980 to Haiti and the trip was canceled due to the
problems in Haiti. Pastor Fisher and another Pastor began to pray that
God would send a Haitian pastor to them so that they would be able to
know what was taking place in the country and be able to get a team
inside. At the same time, Pastor Preval Meritil, a Haitian Pastor, was
sent by the Holy Spirit to translate for an American team working in
Haiti. He translated for them for one week and kept contact with them
after they returned home. This American team sent for Pastor Preval
later for him to come to the United States. He arrived in Pittsburgh
only to receive knowledge that the gentleman's mother was sick. They
then drove to Grantsville, MD to visit his mother and while there, she
was visited by her Pastor who was the minister who was praying with
Pastor Fisher for God to send a Haitian Pastor. Pastor Fisher later
that week met Pastor Preval and they have been working together in the
ministry ever since.

Pastor Fisher sent nursing teams from the Church he was
pastoring to Haiti for the next few years. The Lord spoke to him to
build a drilling rig and ship it to Haiti and start drilling wells.
Pastor Fisher's nurses had been reporting to him of health problems
with cryptospirium and intestinal worms from the water that the
Haitians drank. They completed the drilling rig in 1985 and sent the
first drilling team to Haiti and drilled our first two wells in Haiti.
One was drilled at Pernal and the second at Pignon. Pastor Fisher
continued with the drilling but felt a greater need also to increase
the nursing work and helping with the physical needs of the Haitian
people. Pastor Fisher sent two buses to move the team, two four wheel
drive vehicles, and two large trucks. In 1996, Fisher's International
Missions was able to build a new facility for the work teams and for
ministry teaching teams. This new facility holds 44 people, has a full
kitchen and four restrooms.
Since the beginning of Fisher International Missions, work is
primarily done with the mountain people of Pernal in Haiti. In 1998, a
very large spring was developed and a 30,000 gallon water cistern with
a two horse power electric pump was installed a half a mile away at the
spring site. A mile and a half ditch was dug and a three inch line was
buried to the main part of Pernal and water distribution centers were
placed along the pipe system. This also provides water for our facility
at Pernal. The electric in Haiti has not been dependable and so this
year work teams are placing electrical diesel generators at the spring
and at our residence where we stay while we're there.
Since Fisher International Missions has been working in
Haiti, building Churches has also become part of the mission. They have
completed four Churches in the mountains of Haiti for Pastor Preval's
organization, Haiti Mission Service Church.
